CAMBRIDGE CITY - Athela Jean (Nicholson) Swim, 79, of Cambridge City passed away Thursday, October 18, 2012 at Reid Hospital in Richmond. She was born on February 3, 1933 in New Castle to Delbert Porter and Hildruth Viola (Seffrin) Nicholson. On August 7, 1951 she married C. Lenvil Swim who passed away on October 4, 2006. Athela was a lifelong resident of Wayne County and had lived many years in Hagerstown before moving to Cambridge City. She retired from DANA Corporation. Athela was a well known seamstress who enjoyed sewing clothes for children and was a member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church. Survivors include her children, Jennifer Elaine Swim, Jeanne Ellen (Furman) Hawkins, Jeffrey Evan (Yvonne) Swim, Jerome Eric (Ginger) Swim, James Edan (Anna) Swim, Johnathan Erin (Celia) Swim, Joel Edward Swim, Julissa Elizabeth Swim, Jevon Elicia (Doug) Frame; eleven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sisters, Mary Ann Greer of Middletown, Indiana, Joan (Gerald) Gentry of Lafayette, Indiana; a brother, Joseph (Donna) Nicholson of Palestine, Texas; a sister-in-law, Peggy Nicholson of Richmond, Indiana. Athela was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brother, Jerome Nicholson. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church on Monday, October 22, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. Father John Luerman will preside.
