Obituary

CONNERSVILLE - Arlen D. Chaney, 81, passed away Sunday April 23, 2017 at Fayette Regional Hospital. A son of the late Travis and May (Nolan) Chaney, Arlen was born in Connersville, Indiana on January 14, 1936. Arlen attended Connersville High School and honorably served his country in the United States Army. Arlen worked as an auto body repairman and managed several body shops in Connersville. He considered himself blessed to have been able to work alongside his son Patrick at Chaney's Body & Frame Shop until his retirement 19 years ago. Arlen enjoyed fishing and was also involved in the Connersville Babe Ruth League where he was a board member and served as commissioner. He thoroughly enjoyed watching his grandsons play at the ballpark.

Survivors include his wife of 53 years, the former Judy McCullum. They were married in Connersville at the Eastside Methodist Church on July 7, 1963; 1 son, Arlen Patrick (wife Gina) Chaney of Connersville; 2 grandsons, Jacob and Nolan Chaney; 3 sisters, Berniece Jobe, Rebecca (Bill) Chomel and Alberta (Allan) Hopper all of Connersville; nieces and nephews. Arlen was preceded in death by an infant brother, Earl Chaney.

Following cremation, burial with military honors will be held at Riverside Cemetery in Cambridge City at the convenience of the family.
