Obituary

DUBLIN - Alvin R. Bryant, 75, formerly of Dublin, passed away Wednesday, June 25, 2014 at Rawlins House Health & Living Center in Pendleton, Indiana. Alvin was born on August 5, 1938 in Dublin to the late Harold and Elois (Oliver) Bryant. He graduated Lincoln High School with the class of 1956 and attended Earlham College in Richmond. Alvin married the former Phyllis Mae Thompson on March 1, 1958 in Connersville. A journeyman pattern and model maker, Alvin worked in Richmond before moving to Pendleton in 1978 where he was co-owner of Jade Enterprises. He was a member of the Academy of Model Aeronautics in Muncie and the Patternmakers Union. Alvin was an artist who enjoyed painting, sketching and building model airplanes. He was an avid explorer, often learning about flight and NASA projects. Alvin enjoyed watching sports and followed Reds baseball and several local teams. Survivors include his two sons, Benjamin R. Bryant of Pendleton, Aaron Christopher Bryant (Margo Lambert) of Cincinnati, Ohio; sisters, Ladonna Rihm of Columbus, Ohio; Karen (Ron) Williams of Tennessee; Jodi Brenner of North Carolina. Alvin was preceded in death by his parents; wife on March 21, 2006; sister, Helen Erk. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m on Tuesday, July 1, 2014 at Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home, Dublin. Susan Yanos will officiate. Burial will follow at South Lawn Cemetery, Dublin. Family and friends may call from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. on Monday, June 30, 2014 at the funeral home.
