SHELBYVILLE- Allen Alfred Sparks, 62, passed away early Thursday morning, October 23, 2025 at his residence in Shelbyville, Indiana. Allen was born in New Castle, Indiana on May 12, 1963. He grew up in Straughn and attended Tri High School. Allen lived in several states throughout his life but always returned to his roots in Henry County. On February 14, 2009, he married his companion since 1998, the former Angilia Marie Rutledge in Fortville, Indiana. He worked as a drywall finisher and was a member of the Sons of the American Legion. In his leisure, Allen enjoyed being outdoors, fishing, hunting, looking for mushrooms and camping. He was an automobile and motorcycle enthusiast. He liked to watch old westerns and cartoons with his grandkids.
Survivors include his mother, Betty Sue (Stewart) Gosnell; wife, Angilia Sparks; 4 children, Malcolm (Courtney) Denney, Heather Tripp, Justin (Jasmine) Sparks and Jacob Sparks; 7 God-children whom he raised, Kenzie Sharpe, Austin Jacobs, John Lang, Shay Langley, Kory Washburn, Zach Compton and CJ Yarberry; 20 plus grand and great grandchildren; 8 siblings, Rhonda Stewart, Loretta Gorman, Sheldon Sparks, Selina Sparks, Tasha (Kevin) Moore, Tanya Sparks, Tabitha Sparks and Travis Sparks; special friends, Damon Rogers and Hank Holthauser.
Allen was preceded in death by his father, Sheldon A. Sparks; his Dad, Ralph Gosnell; grandson, Xander Allen Sparks; God-son, Staff Sergeant Michael Beckert. During this stressful time, the family apologizes if someone was not listed in the obituary.
Visitation and a time to celebrate Allen's life will be from 4-7 p.m. Monday October 27, 2025 at Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home, Lewisville Chapel- 115 Main Street/ Lewisville, IN 47352. Cremation will follow.
Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
