Alan peacefully left this life while at home. A deep nap turned into an eternal Heavenly life." No more suffering. No more sorrow. " Revelation 21:4 He had spent the previous days with his wife doing what he loved. Being together, talking, reminiscing, eating a favorite sushi meal. Just being.
Born in New Castle, Indiana to Alan and Karen (Crabtree) Taylor. Raised up with siblings: Heather (Fred) Vice, Steven (Tracey) Taylor, Robert Taylor and Natalie Taylor, In addition to many foster siblings.
He married Lisla (Carrender) Taylor after a swift proposal from her. Working on their seventeenth year of marriage (March 12, 2010) and 41st year of friendship. He spent those years as her caretaker, protector, and balancing board. You name it. Loyal and quick to forgive her no matter. She can't wait to be reunited with him.
A daddy to Chelsea. She was the center of his world. He loved hearing her beautiful voice in song. They shared this talent. In all her choir years he missed one Madrigal performance. Although debilitated he still kicked himself for it. A grandpa to Willow. A dad to Abi. They loved their time together having adventures. A drive around the corner was not a dull feat. A fatherly role model for nieces and nephews. Stepping up when needed. Uncle to nephews: Matthew, Michael and Braedon. Brad and Brandon Carrender. Nieces; Rachel, Bekah, Brittany, Sara and Erin.
He is survived by his wife, daughter, parents, brothers, sisters, nieces, and nephews. Precedent deaths grandparents, daughter Abi and brother Eddie Carrender.
Alan was a hard- laboring worker. A great provider. He loved making us laugh. Hard belly cry laughing. He was a great comedic entertainer. He was the lead singer. Music was his heart. The Beatles dominated his musical entrove. He could tell you just about anything about anything, being intelligent and so witty. Alan had an uncontainable curiosity for life. He was a natural born chef often creating and serving his own creations. As of last count his menu included 106 recipes. His nephew Braedon remembered saying "this makes me want to sing" after a bite.
"Well done, good and faithful servant." Matthew 25:23
There are no words for how much we will yearn to see him again. He is a giant soul who took up a huge space in our lives. It won't be long husband, father, son, brother, uncle, friend.... We will see you in the blink of an eye.
You are invited to honor him with us at Marshall and Erlewein Funeral Home, Dublin, on October 5, 2026. Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. until reminiscent services at 3:00 p.m.
