DUBLIN- Thomas R. McCarty Sr., 81 , passed away Sunday afternoon April 26, 2009 at the home of his son Mark.
Tom was born in Connersville, Indiana on April 28, 1927. He was honorably discharged from the United States Navy in 1946 after serving in the south Pacific during World War II. A devoted husband and father, he had worked at NATCO and Chrysler Corporation. Tom was a Journeyman Electrician and until his retirement was owner/operator of
McCarty Electric for many years.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, the former Joan Moistner, whom he wed in Connersville on April 23, 1949.
5 sons- Tom Jr. of Dublin, Greg (Joyce) of Cambridge City, Terry of Pennville, Mark (Joyce) of Cambridge City, John (Juli) of Dublin; 1 daughter, Ann (Pastor Tim) Webb of rural New Castle; 4 granddaughters; 1 grandson; 1 great grandson; 3 step granddaughters; 1 step grandson; 1 brother, Kenny (Barbara) McCarty of New Castle; several nieces and nephews.
Tom was preceded in death by his mother, Lillabelle Johnson McCarty Jamison; stepfather, Louis Jamison;
son Pastor Rick McCarty on July 5, 2004; 2 sisters, Helen Wicker amd Alice Fisher; ½ brother, Clarence Brenner.
Private Graveside services, conducted by Tom's son inlaw Pastor Tim Webb, will be at the convenience of the family on Wednesday April 29 at the South Lawn Cemetery in Dublin. The Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home, Dublin, has been entrusted with the arrangements.
