Cambridge City- Dorothy Garrett, 85, formally of Oakville, Indiana, passed away Thursday March 19, 2009 at Reid Hospital. She was born on September 5, 1923 in Farmland IN, the daughter of Cleve and Alberta (Driskell) Halstead. In May of 1946 she married her husband of 36 years Cletus Garrett.
Dorothy worked for RCA for 20 years and was a member of the Eastern Star and the Muncie Moose. She was the president of her class at Stoney Creek of Farmland and loved NASCAR and was an avid euchre player.
Surviving relatives include three sons; John Garrett (wife Nancy) of Dublin, Bill Garrett (wife Judy) of AZ and Robert Garrett (wife Duretta) of Oakville, three daughters; Joan Clayton of Dublin, Carolyn Friedline (husband Ken) of Muncie and Pam Mills (husband Bill) of Richmond, sixteen grandchildren, thirty four great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren, sister Doris Davis of Florida and brother Glen Halstead (wife Pat) of Farmland and several nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by, parents, husband Cletus Garrett in 1982, grandson, Gregg Garrett, great-grandson Brandon, three brothers and five sisters.
Services will be Monday March 23, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at the Marshall &Erlewein Funeral Home Dublin. Burial will be at the Gardens of Memory Cemetery in Muncie at 1:00 p.m. Visitation will be from 1:00p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Sunday March 22, 2009 at the funeral home.
