Doris Loomis Obituary

Indianapolis- Doris J. Loomis, 85, of Indianapolis, passed away on Thursday January 22, 2009 at Community East Hospital in Indianapolis. A daughter of the late Carl Sr. and Hazel Clifton Butler, Doris was born in Henry County, Indiana on April 27, 1923 and graduated from the Lewisville High School. She had lived in the Dublin / Cambridge City community and worked at the Doll Market in Dublin, Rihm's Grocery and Audree's Dress Shop in Cambridge City before moving to Indianapolis in 1951. Doris retired from the Marion County Municipal Court System where she worked in the Probate Department. She enjoyed poetry and was a member of the Salem United Methodist Church in Straughn and the Hagerstown Eastern Star.
Survivors include 2 sons, Stephen B. (wife Diane) Loomis of Indianapolis and their daughter- Amy Loomis of Fort Myers, Florida and John R. (wife Pam) Loomis of Reno, Nevada and their children- Kristin, Ryan, Jason and Lauren;
5 siblings, Donald Butler of Muncie, Carl Butler Jr. of Richmond, Donna Jean Rihm of Cambridge City, Barbara Huddleston of Union City and Janet Monger of Georgia; a special 7 year old friend, Evan Risner; several nieces and nephews.
Doris was preceded in death by 3 brothers, Jack, Claude and Horace Butler and 1 sister, N. Margarette Henry.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Monday January 26, 2009 at the Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home, Dublin. Pastor Adriane Curtis of the Salem United Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will follow at the Lewisville Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 1 - 4 p.m. on Sunday January 25 at the funeral home where an Eastern Star Service will be conducted at 3:30 p.m.
