HAGERSTOWN - Marta Kaye Fast, 53, formerly of Hagerstown, IN, passed into eternity Sunday evening, March 24, 2024. Marta was the victim of Systemic Lupus. She was born in Van Wert, Ohio, the daughter of Bob and Dixie Fast. She came to Hagerstown in 1973.
Marta was a graduate of Hagerstown High School (1988), I.U. East (AS degree), and I.U. Bloomington (BS degree). She had also attended Coastal Carolina University and Ball State.
Marta is remembered for her athletic prowess, especially her golf skills. She went to the IHSAA state golf singles competition for three (3) years while in high school. She was awarded a golf scholarship at Coastal Carolina University.
After graduation from I.U., Marta took employment with Wal-Mart and worked as an assistant store manager at seven different stores. She also worked at CVS as a store manager, Tony’s Pizza as a sales representative, and FedEx as a ramp agent, where she was injured and put on permanent disability.
During her lifetime she met many people and made many friends. Special friends in the Noblesville/Indianapolis area are Jean, Rachel, Brooklyn, Sidney, Jeanetta, Bill, Katie, and Stacy. She has many friends from high school that have kept their friendship bonds. Marta’s sister Gretchen has done so much to help, especially when Lupus increased its deadly hold on her. She was always there for her sister.
Marta is survived by her parents, Bob and Dixie Fast and sister, Gretchen Hanes.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Gerold and Charlotte Fogt; paternal grandparents, Irvin and Dorothy Fast, and aunt, Judith (Fogt) Smith.
At the request of the family, there will not be a funeral service.
