DUBLIN- Richard Lee “Dick” Nix Sr., 71, of Richmond, Indiana, passed away on Wednesday evening April 18, 2012 at the Reid Hospital in Richmond. Richard was born on January 7, 1941 in Greensburg, Indiana. He grew up in the Cambridge City community and graduated from Lincoln High School. Richard served his country in the United States Army during the Viet Nam War. He was stationed in the Dominican Republic and was honorably discharged on Febraury 24, 1966. He worked as a residential/commercial painter and was a member of the Hagerstown American Legion Post 333. Survivors include his companion of 30 years, Cindy Hartman of Richmond ; 1 son, Richard L. Nix Jr. of Columbus, OH; 3 stepdaughters, Susan, Tami and Julie; 20 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; 5 brothers, Jake Breeden of Dublin, Troy Breeden of Richmond, Eddie, Kenny and Brent Breeden all of Cambridge City; several nieces and nephews and cousins. Richard was preceded in death by his father, Leo Nix; his mother, Elvira (Stewart) Breeden on December 8, 1983; step father, Charles K. Breeden on September 29, 1985. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the time of services at 1 p.m. on Saturday April 21, 2012 at the Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home, 1993 Cumberland Street/ Dublin, IN 47335. Burial with military honors conducted by the Lawrence H. Bertsch American Legion Post 169 will follow at the Riverside Cemetery in Cambridge City.
